Drafting in Sydney: Should I renovate or demolish?
Everyone wants to live in a good looking house, whether the house is over 100 years old, or are still in an "okay" condition, we know that we want to make it better. There is always room for an "even better" living space.
If you’re buying an older house, it’s common to be a bit torn with some wear and tear. The most visible dilemma for home owners is between whether to demolish it and start from scratch, or whether to try and fix the existing house up. Either way, it is not an easy task and should take serious consideration before lodging a DA/CDC for the proposed work.
There are a few factors you’ll need to take into account when you’re deciding – here are some of the more important considerations:
- Cost
- Protected characteristic
- Investment vs Own-occupied
- Regulations
- Where to live
- Keeping vs removing
In the next few posts we will be talking about how these factors can help you consider what to do.
