Drafting in Sydney: Concrete slab vs timber flooring
Whether you are planning to build a new house, or doing an extension, it is important to consider the type of foundation you should get for your floor; as it is one of the most critical element to make your property structurally supportive.
Timber flooring
Timber flooring is generally cheaper than concrete flooring, it is great if you are looking for a lightweight flooring. In sloped lands, it is recomendeded that suspended timber flooring will do a great job, simply because there is a huge cavity gap in between the nature ground and the floor.
Concrete Slab
However, timber flooring can expands and retract just like concrete floors. Maintenance is very important such as providing pest control annually. If you land is relatively flat (both new dwelling and extensions), a concrete raft slab is also benefitial and cheaper than timber flooring as the labour cost of building brick piers can be costly.
