New Home Designers Penshurst explain the definition of a Development Application and how to lodge one
A Development Application (DA) is a formal request for consent to carry out development. Our new home designers Penshurst explain that this type of Development Approval is the most common way of getting development consent in NSW.
Permits may not be required in all instances but applicants are advised to consult with the Council in the first instance to check whether the proposed activity requires a land use or building permit.
In Australia a Development Application consists of a collection of documents (including application forms, site plans, consultants’ reports and the like) and is submitted to your local Council. For some forms of development, the development application process can be swift and simple. However, for more complex applications, it can be a lengthy, time consuming and frustrating process.
There are a few types of development that can be particularly complex (and generally apply to commercial and industrial, rather than residential development)
Permits may not be required in all instances but applicants are advised to consult with the Council in the first instance to check whether the proposed activity requires a land use or building permit.
The following items need to be prepared and submitted for all Development Applications (DA).
Completed DA form – The form is obtainable from council.
Statement of Environmental Factors - This statement should detail any expected impact of the development on the environment, adjoining premises or the public.
Required Fees - You are required to pay a fee when you lodge your DA.
Drawings - One digital copy and one paper set of drawings to scale.
