Drafting in Sydney: BASIX making homes sustainable
Whether you are building a new home, doing a partial renovation or alteration, or if you are building a granny flat, you will need to do a BASIX!
What is BASIX?
Basix (Building sustainability Index) is a web-based tool that ensure homes use less water, produce fewer greenhouse gas emissions and are more comfortable to live in.
Do I need one, is it compulsory?
BASIX requires all new homes and granny flats in NSW to use up to 40% less protable water and produce up to 40% fewer greenhouse gas emossions than the average home. BASIX also applies to renovations work that requires council and CDC consent.
At Go Design Solutions, Sydney's specialist residential drafting service, we assist our clients with documentations, drafting and design as well as working on BASIX for council applications.
In our next post, we'll talk about the differences in BASIX for new homes and alternationvs and additions.
