Residential Drafting design in Sydney tells you the importance of using good quality finishes!
Budget or Quality?
Lately, I've come across with a few clients asking for low budget finishes, whether it's a wall tiles, a floor tile, a benchtop or a timber flooring, the first comment made is "is this expensive??"
Whether you are doing a home extensions or new home design, good quality designers will choose something that meets your budget but also give you an beautiful product at the end of the day.
It's in fact not always wise to pick a product that is too cheap (or below general market price) that will not maintain itself very long. For instance, an experience I had with a client who used a "China imported" tapware for $50 dollars with no WEL star rating, (compare to a "specified" Australian-made tapware with 4 WEL star rating for $250 dollars) may thought it is cheaper and "still look similar". Unfortunately 2 months later, the tapware bloat, and the house was flooded. This client ends up using $3000 to replace all the carpet and another $5000 to replace the kitchen. Now this is no fun at all!
Other situations such as cheap quality floor tiles; the first 3 months may look brand new and nicely polished, 3 months down the track, it starts fading out. "Some dodgy manufacturers do dip tiles into a tank of oil to maintain the polish look." Now is this something you are looking for simply becuase it's cheap?
A tip here: Always tell your residential drafting designer your budget before hand, and be mindful of the money you are willing to spend is critical. Yet trust that he/she will provide you a good standard and quality product. It's understandable that small money do add up, but if something went wrong, it will unfortunately cost you more than you thought it would be in the end!
Remember, there are always products thats "not expensive" but can be "great quality!"
